Det var jeg også hooked på indtil jeg fandt ud af det betød et vers i koranen... Så blev det altså lidt for muslimsk til mig...
Du har ret i det er muslimsk, men det er bare så smukt synes jeg. Det betyder også flere ting hvad jeg har kunne læse mig frem til. 
I min gamle navne notesbog står der Aya: arabisk navn der betyder strålende og skindende, på japansk betyder det farverig. Ayah er arabisk og betyder mirakel og tegn.

Then there is the meaning of "wisdom", as in Aya Sophia (the church/mosque in Istanbul)
Aya was also a Sumerian goddess, wife of the sungod Shamash, or UTU.
It is also the name of an Israeli bird of prey or Fly swiftly
Someone pointed out to me that aya in Spanish (the pronunciation) means there, over there.
